1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment
Constituted 01 November 1917 in the Regular Army as Battery A, 57th Artillery (Coast Artillery Corps). Organized 11 January 1918 at Fort Hancock, New Jersey. Demobilized 30 June 1921 at Camp Lewis, Washington. Reconstituted 22 January 1926 in the Regular Army and redesignated as Battery A, 57th Coast Artillery. Activated 01 June 1940 at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Inactivated 31 May 1944 in Hawaii. Disbanded 14 June 1944. Reconstituted 28 June 1950 in the Regular Army; concurrently consolidated with Battery A, 57th Field Artillery Battalion (active), and consolidated unit designated as Battery A, 57th Field Artillery Battalion, an element of the 7th Infantry Division. Inactivated 01 July 1957 in Korea and relieved from assignment to the 7th Infantry Division. Redesignated 12 August 1958 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Missile Battalion, 57th Artillery (organic elements concurrently constituted). Battalion activated 01 September 1958 at Boston, Massachusetts. Inactivated 25 June 1960 at Nahant, Massachusetts. Activated 24 March 1961 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Inactivated 01 December 1968 on Okinawa. Redesignated 16 August 1971 as the 1st Battalion, 57th Artillery, and activated at Fort Bliss, Texas. Redesignated 01 September 1971 as the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery. Inactivated 19 March 1973 at Fort Bliss, Texas. Redesignated 01 October 2005 as the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment and then Activated 16 October 2023 in Germany and Italy.
