10th AAMDC Integrates with NATO Allies at NAMFI

Tobruq Legacy 20

Tobruq Legacy 20 is a multinational air defense exercise taking place from Sept. 12-27, 2020 in Lithuania, Germany and Poland. The purpose of this exercise is to enhance interoperability with NATO forces and increase readiness through the integration of land component air missile defense capabilities. Nations participating in Tobruq Legacy include Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United States. NATO Air Defense Forces Integrate in the Baltics

Soldiers from ten nations prepare static displays for closing ceremony of Tobruq Legacy 2020 at Siauliai Air Base, Lithuania. Tobruq Legacy is a biennial air defense exercise that looks to advance the capabilities of the US and its NATO Allies and partners in Eastern Europe, to train more cohesively and to enhance a unified command. Approximately 750 military personnel from 10 ally nations including Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United States participated in this exercise.

Joint Multinational Exercise Validates Aerial and Ground Force Integration in Eastern Europe

Service members from the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and U.S Air Forces Africa, along with five other NATO countries conducted Astral Knight 20, a joint multinational air defense exercise, on Sept. 12-25 near Szymany, Poland. Astral Knight 20 is designed to enhance interoperability among NATO allies and partners to increase readiness through the integration of land component air and missile defense capabilities.

Swedish delegation visits U.S. Soldiers in Baumholder

Swedish Soldiers, assigned to the Swedish Air Defense Regiment, visited with the U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, in Baumholder to collaborate and mutually understand the operational depth of the defense of European allies and partners on Aug. 18-20, 2020.

U.S. and Poland continue to grow air defense powerhouse

Brig. Gen. Gregory Brady, the commander of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, visited Poland on Aug. 11-12 at the request of Polish Col. Kazimierz Dynski, commander of the 3rd Surface to Air Defense Brigade, in order to facilitate the planning and execution of future exercises in the European theater.

The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command hosted a change of responsibility ceremony on August 6, 2020 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Brig. Gen. Gregory Brady presided over the ceremony, as the outgoing command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Gary Plotnick handed the guidon, and his role as the senior enlisted advisor, over to Command Sgt. Maj. Giancarlo Macri.

Air Defense dominates the USAREUR Best Warrior Soldier Category’ two years running!

The U.S. Army Europe Best Warrior Competition is an event that recognizes Soldiers who demonstrate commitment to the Army Values, themselves and the units they represent. For two consecutive years, Soldiers in the 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment (5-4 ADAR) have won the United States Army Europe Best Warrior Competition in the Soldier category.

Non-commissioned Officers Stay Close, While Physically Distant

Innovative leaders in the Army will always find ways to reach their soldiers, even in the face of a pandemic. Soldiers assigned to the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Airmen assigned to the 606th Air Control Squadron and Marines assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 1 conducted Spartan Shield 20-7, a joint air and missile defense exercise at the U.S. Air Force Europe-Africa Warfare Center in Kaiserslautern , Germany on July 15-23, 2020.

Spartan Shield, the art of air and missile defense integration

One hears the rationale behind the creation of Army Air Defense Artillery Fire Control Officers (ADAFCO) was to place the human factor back into how Army ADAFCO personnel bridge the gap in integrated air and missile defense. That human factor can be best described as the lifeblood of the Army’s Air Defense Artillery (ADA). ADAFCO teams must exist in order to integrate Army Air Missile Defense (AMD) engagement operations into the Joint Integrated Air Defense System (JIADS). The 678th ADA Brigade (BDE) has created the foundation to not only meet the standards of a National Guard ADA BDE, but to exceed those expectations. The brigade participated in the Spartan Shield 20-7 exercise where their ADAFCO’s attended the Army’s ADFACO Table VIII certification course from July 20 – 23 2020 at the Warrior Preparation Center on Einsiedlerhof Air Station, Germany.

Ready to Ride in Kaiserslautern

With the temperatures rising, and the scenic views Germany has to offer, motorcycle riders are eager and happy to mount their iron steeds and cruise. The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command held a motorcycle rider’s safety course, on July 1, 2020 near Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Kaiserslautern to kick off the motorcycle riding season.

10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command remains ready to fight despite COVID-19

Although the world took a pause due to COVID-19, the air defense mission in Europe never stopped. The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command remained ready to act at a moment notice. The leadership and soldiers had to find unique ways to stay integrated with our foreign allies and partners and maintain unit readiness, while taking appropriate measures to protect the force.

European Best Defender Competition concludes

Nine soldiers from across the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command’s formation competed in the grueling European Best Defender Competition (EBDC) testing their professionalism, tactical proficiency, mental and physical toughness at Rhine Ordnance Barracks June 1-5.

The 10th AAMDC conducts the European Best Defender Competition annually to identify and recognize soldiers that possess exemplary qualities, warrior ethos and tactical proficiency throughout the command. The events are designed to challenge and reward competition all participants. Competitors are evaluated on their demonstrated professionalism, tactical proficiency, mental and physical toughness. The winners will represent the10th AAMDC at the U.S. Army Europe's Best Warrior Competition and compete against U.S. Army units from across Europe the end of July. The winners are: For officer, 2nd Lt. Garrett Julian, a launcher platoon leader assigned to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Baumholder, Germany. For noncommissioned officer, Staff Sgt. Ian Ledesma, a patriot launching station enhanced operator-maintainer assigned to Alpha Battery, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Baumholder, Germany. For Soldier, Spc. Justin Rivard, an air and missile defender crewmember assigned to Bravo Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ansbach, Germany.

HHB, 10th AAMDC SFRG answers call to service

The Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense, Soldier and Family Readiness Group (SFRG) out of Kaiserslautern Military Community, Germany is not just a support network between the unit and families, but has doubled down efforts to ensure family members are informed and cognizant of the ever changing COVID-19 laws and restrictions that began here since the epidemic started January, 2020.

US Army’s Newest Avenger Master Gunner Makes History

KATTERBACH, Germany-- On April 16, 2020 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the Air Defense Artillery Avenger Master Gunner Course graduated its latest class of nine students, one of which made history. Staff Sgt. Tiana Trent, a native of Canton Ohio, is celebrated as the first African-American female to attend and complete the course since its origin.

Press Release - Arcane Thunder exercise to begin in Poland, Romania and Germany

The 56th Artillery Command will plan and coordinate the employment of multi-domain fires and effects in support of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and/or a Combined Joint Force Land Component Command. The Theater Fires Command improves readiness and multinational interoperability by the integration of joint and multi-national fires in theater operations and exercises.
The unit takes it’s lineage from the 56th Field Artillery Command, which last served on active duty in Europe from 1986 to 1991 as the Theater’s Pershing Missile Headquarters. It inactivated in June 1991 following the signing of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The 56th Artillery Command is headquartered in Mainz-Kastel, Germany.
