Tobruq Legacy 20 is a multinational air defense exercise taking place from Sept. 12-27, 2020 in Lithuania, Germany and Poland. The purpose of this exercise is to enhance interoperability with NATO forces and increase readiness through the integration of land component air missile defense capabilities. Nations participating in Tobruq Legacy include Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United States. The 10th AAMDC conducts the European Best Defender Competition annually to identify and recognize soldiers that possess exemplary qualities, warrior ethos and tactical proficiency throughout the command. The events are designed to challenge and reward competition all participants. Competitors are evaluated on their demonstrated professionalism, tactical proficiency, mental and physical toughness. The winners will represent the10th AAMDC at the U.S. Army Europe's Best Warrior Competition and compete against U.S. Army units from across Europe the end of July.

The winners are:

For officer, 2nd Lt. Garrett Julian, a launcher platoon leader assigned to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Baumholder, Germany. 

For noncommissioned officer, Staff Sgt. Ian Ledesma, a patriot launching station enhanced operator-maintainer assigned to Alpha Battery, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Baumholder, Germany. 

For Soldier, Spc. Justin Rivard, an air and missile defender crewmember assigned to Bravo Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ansbach, Germany.

Press Release - Arcane Thunder exercise to begin in Poland, Romania and Germany
The 56th Artillery Command will plan and coordinate the employment of multi-domain fires and effects in support of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and/or a Combined Joint Force Land Component Command. The Theater Fires Command improves readiness and multinational interoperability by the integration of joint and multi-national fires in theater operations and exercises.
The unit takes it’s lineage from the 56th Field Artillery Command, which last served on active duty in Europe from 1986 to 1991 as the Theater’s Pershing Missile Headquarters. It inactivated in June 1991 following the signing of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The 56th Artillery Command is headquartered in Mainz-Kastel, Germany.
